Agenda for Spring 2012 Sustainable Packaging Coalition Meeting

Eight Annual SPC Spring Meeting brings together over 300 Packaging and Sustainability professionals in Toronto on April 23-25.

The Sustainable Packaging Coalition has announced the final agenda for its Spring Meeting 2012, the group’s largest annual event and one of the longest running sustainable packaging conference. The SPC’s eight annual Spring Meeting will be held April 23-25, 2012 at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, ON.The meeting is hosted by SPC member companies BASF Corporation, Be Green Packaging, MWV (MeadWestvaco), Shanghai Luxin Packing Materials Science & Technology Co., Ltd., and TricorBraun.The conference, open to all and with more than 300 attendees expected, features an agenda with sessions on reducing packaging waste, packaging’s role in corporate sustainability strategies, forest ecosystems and packaging, by-product synergy for packaging materials, and extended producer responsibility.

Agenda highlights include:

  • A keynote session with Bob Willard, author of Sustainability Advantage and a leading expert on quantifying and selling the business value of corporate sustainability strategies
  • A discussion with Mike Biddle, founder and president of MBA Polymers, on “A War on Waste,” with additional sessions on food waste and packaging and PAC NEXT’s initiatives for a world without packaging waste
  • A presentation by Erin Schrode, co-founder of Teens Turning Green,onthe importance of the younger generation on corporate sustainability brands in “Millenials, Social Media & Packaging”
  • Sessions on forests and packaging, including a plenary by Andrew Bevan, executive director of Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement, and additional sessions on changing regulations for wood packaging materials and valuing forest ecosystems
  • Discussion of Extended Producer Responsibility with a focus on how host country Canada manages their EPR system
